A Walk at Calke

2 posts in one day, what an unusually productive mood I'm in!

Or more likely I've had friends over for the last day or so, and therefore have actually remembered my camera exists!

As previously mentioned the last couple of days have been COLD. Or at least Ellie cold!
Since I had friends over, and the weather was at least dry we decided to take a nice walk at the local Calke Abbey to try and wear off some of the extensive amounts of food we had consumed the previous evening.

The park is beautiful at any time of the year, but the frost and lingering mist did give it a magical feeling, especially when we first got there and the number of visitors was low.

Not going to lie, the best thing about the walk was bumping into a guy taking this fella around on a leash.
Cute doesn't quite cover it!

Winter is Coming - Or maybe not!

Those who know me are aware I live in the very temperate midlands in the UK, where anything outside of 5 - 15°C is considered to be highly suspicious! That's not to say we don't get more "extreme" weather, but it's rare, and we constantly complain about it when it's here. (Although to be honest as a Brit complaining about the weather is normal conversation.)
The last couple of days have been practically arctic in comparison to the rest of December, and for once I was neither at work, or in bed. Therefore I grabbed my camera and made the most of it, after all the frost looks so pretty!

As my daft cat decided to follow me up the garden, I had to take pictures of her misery too!

Conferences and Chocolate

I was lucky enough last week to be sent to Brussels for a 2 day conference.
All I really knew about the City was that it was the home of the European Parliament, and that it had lots of chocolate shops. (The latter of which I took full advantage!)
After 2 full days of conferencing, I decided to make the most of my free half day by taking one of the tourist buses, with a brief stop in the park that hosts the Atomium statue. (As a scientist this was the monument that appealed the most from the guide book).

We're all going on a fairy hunt!

A couple of weekends ago, one of my close friends from Germany came to visit for a few days, and since she is also a keen amateur photographer I thought I'd take her to one of my favourite spots in the West Midlands. Trentham gardens.
Since my last visit there have been some new additions to the fairy trail, whilst others had moved location.
