Left My Heart In Tokyo

A month or so ago now my Uncle married his wife for the second time, and my parents and I were invited to join them on their special day. The catch was marriage pt2 was in Japan. As you can imagine I jumped at the chance to visit part of the world I've never seen before, and despite being hit rather hard by the jetlag and a total lack of sleep for 2 weeks the trip as a whole was a success.
During the 2 weeks we visited 3 cities/regions of Japan, Niigata/Sado, Kyoto and Tokyo. All were very different experiences, with their own pros and cons, but one thing all had in common was how very safe they felt to a lone traveller (I ditched the family as soon as I could to preserve my mental health!) with next to no understanding of the local language.

Despite visiting Tokyo last, it was probably the place I enjoyed the most. It was every bit as crazy as I expected it to be, but finding a quiet park to hide in for half an hour away from the mass tourist hysteria was much easier than in Kyoto. Therefore when I got back and realised I had ~2000ish photos to go through, I started in Tokyo and worker my way back to the start of the holiday.
